Please join us for a building tour of Ping An Finance Center, Shenzhen, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.

As the tallest tower in Shenzhen, and the second tallest in China, the 599m Ping An Finance Center is the physical and iconic center of Shenzhen. The new headquarters for the Ping An Insurance Company, the tower also includes restaurants and an observation deck which are open to the public. The tapered form of the tower conveys the intention of ‘reaching for the sky’ accentuated by 1700 tons of stainless steel cladding on the exterior wall – making this the largest application of architectural stainless steel in the world.

The tour will be led by Florence Chan, AIA, Director of KPF, and representatives from Outokumpu, the stainless steel supplier for the exterior wall, who will share their experience on the fabrication and installation of the facade, one of the most important features of the Center.  During this tour, the group will have this rare opportunity to visit the active mass damper in the tower which is not open to the public.

This will be our last building tour of the year and, as there are limited places available, early registration is strongly recommended.  Priorities will be given to AIA members.  Our Program Committee is working on other building tour in Shenzhen and please stay tuned for further announcements!
