J Lee Rofkind, AIA,LEED® AP
President

J Lee has been involved in the AIA in several US cities since University and is one of the special group of professionals that are founding members of AIA Hong Kong in 1997. She has been an active member of the organization; chairing Programs Committee for several years, Chapter Secretary for two years and finally one of the leaders that organized “Pacific Crossings” the AIA Northwest & Pacific Region conference in Hong Kong in 2006.
J Lee came to Hong Kong via Hawaii in 1992, and has been licensed in the state of Massachusetts for over twenty years. J Lee brings extensive hotel design experience to her own firm of BUZ Design. BUZ specializes in high end hospitality interiors around the world. Their global portfolio includes hotel and resort projects in China, Montreal, Geneva, Bangkok and Bali.

Christine E. Bruckner, FAIA, PhD, LEED® AP
Director
 

A founding member of the AIA Hong Kong, Christine supports the Chapter in many roles: President (2009-10); Vice President (2008); Technical Adjudication Advisor (2003 - present); Committee Chair and long time member of Honors & Awards (2006) and Nominating Committees (2005 & 2007); Active with Programs development, Urban Design & waterfront initiatives, COTE LEED events, Membership and International region objectives. Christine has over 20 years experience practicing in US, Europe, Japan, & Hong Kong and holds degrees from: Rice University (B.A; B. Arch.); Yale University (M. Arch); Tokyo University (M. S.; PhD). She continues to bring her design focus on sustainability and the public realm to the forefront for AIA HK in 2011.

Bernard Chang, AIA
Vice President
 

Bernard became a full member of the institute in 2000 and has served Hong Kong Chapter as Professional Practice Chair from 2007-2008. Bernard has been practicing architecture for more than 10 years in the United States, China, Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore and Vietnam. Mr. Chang is currently stationed in KPF’s Hong Kong office where he supports operations and business development activities for the firm’s Asian practice.

Kenneth Hau, AIA
Secretary
 

A founding member of the AIA Hong Kong Chapter, Kenneth served the Chapter in various roles: Secretary (2000 - 2001); Vice President (2003 - 2004) and Nominating Chair (2008-2010). Kenneth was educated, trained and practiced in the US before returning to Hong Kong, and joining Wong & Ouyang (HK) Ltd.; an established local practice where he remains as a senior member of the firm. Kenneth is a registered architect in the U.S.(Texas) and Hong Kong. He has extensive professional experience in both design and management in the U.S., Hong Kong, PRC and Southeast Asia.

Dennis K. Selinger, Assoc.AIA
Treasurer
 

Mr. Selinger has been in the landscape design industry for nearly 40 years, with extensive experience in Resorts and Hotels, Luxury Estates, Residential Developments, Land and Site Planning, and Commercial projects. Mr. Selinger has worked on projects in many areas of the world, including Asia, North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Mr. Selinger previously worked in the Los Angeles office of Sasaki Associates, one of the most prominent multi-disciplinary design firms in the United States. Moving to Asia in 1994, he worked as a Director for Belt Collins Associates (Hong Kong), prior to creating St. Legére Design International in 1999. Mr. Selinger has been an active member of AIA Hong Kong Chapter since 2002.

Communications
 

Roger is a founding member of the AIA Hong Kong chapter and has been active with the chapter ever since. He has served the chapter as Membership Chair (2000-2006), Treasurer (2004) and Communication Chair (2007-Present). Roger has also served as the Regional Associates Director, AIA Northwest & Pacific Region and a member of the National Associates Committee (2006). Roger is a registered architect and Authorized Person in Hong Kong and has with sixteen years of experience. He is Associate at Llewelyn-Davies (HK) Ltd.

Gregory Leong, AIA
Honors & Awards
 

Gregory joined the AIA Hong Kong Chapter in 2005 and has been active with the chapter ever since. He has served as Professional Practice Chair (2006-2007), Urban Design Committee member and Honors and Awards Chair (2008-Present). Gregory received his Bachelor of Architectural degree from Rhode Island School of Design and a Master Degree in Urban Design from Harvard GSD. He has been practicing architecture and urban design for over 10 years in US as well as in Asia. Gregory is the senior design supervisor of planning and architecture at Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Kim Wang, AIA

Kim joined the AIA Hong Kong Chapter in 1999 and has served as Membership Chair since 2007. Kim received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Cornell University and a Master of Architecture Degree from Harvard GSD. He has practiced in New York for over 15 years, and has started his own practice in Hong Kong since 1994.

Stephen Portz, AIA, LEED® AP
Membership Co-chair, China
 

Stephen joined the AIA HK chapter in 2008, transferring from his US chapter, after being based in Shanghai since 2000. He is a member of the COTE committee and is currently serving as Co-Chair on the membership committee.

Stephen is Principal of Arc8X Design, and focuses on Commercial Interiors and Architecture. Over the past 20 years he has worked and lived in North America, Europe and Asia with a deep commitment to environmental and socially accountable projects. He is a registered Architect in the State of Texas, is a LEED Accredited Professional and received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin.

Nelson K. Chen, FAIA, FHKIA, RIBA
Nominating
 

Nelson Chen has been a member of AIA since 1980 and was elected Founding President of AIA Hong Kong in 1997. He received the Chapter’s Distinguished Service Award in 2007. He is principal architect of Nelson Chen Architects Ltd., and his professional work has been recognized by over 30 international design awards including the AIA HK Architecture Firm Award (1999) and Architect of the Year Award from Hong Kong Artists Guild (1999), among several others. He has taught design at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and currently serves as Honorary Professor of Architecture and External Examiner. Nelson was educated at Harvard and Cambridge, receiving highest honors degrees and academic distinctions including the AIA School Medal as first ranked graduate at Harvard and the Knox Fellowship at Cambridge.

Anderson Lee, AIA
Professional Practice Co-chair
 

Anderson returned to Hong Kong in 2003 from the U.S. and has been active with the chapter since. He served as the Nominating Committee Chair in 2008. He has over 10 years of experience practicing in the U.S. Finland, Japan, and China. Anderson is an assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong since 2003. He is also the director of the award-winning firm Index Architecture Ltd. He received his degrees in Architecture from Princeton University and the University of Michigan.

Christopher Chan, AIA
Professional Practice Co-chair, China
 

Christopher Chan has over 18 years of experience in design and construction both domestically and internationally. In North America, his projects can be found in California, Los Angeles, Houston, Seattle, and New York City. In Asia, Christopher's work spans Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan, with an emphasis in China. While he has been working across these different markets, Christopher continues to be involved in high quality large-scale projects, high-rise and mixed-use developments. His work centres on rigorous design investigation and strong technical integration to produce site-specific projects of distinctive design and high market value. Christopher is currently the design director on the Shanghai Tower project, a 632-meter tall tower scheduled for completion in 2014.

Silas Chiow, AIA
Programs Co-chair, China
 

Director of SOM China, Silas Chiow, AIA, is responsible for spearheading the firm’s strategic planning, operations and project facilitation throughout greater China. During his tenure Chiow has collaborated with some of SOM’s top urban planners and architects to conceptualize and complete some of the firm’s most prestigious projects, while building strong partnerships with Chinese and international developers and their partners. He is a frequent speaker at private and public events on topics related to the development of China’s planning and design culture.

Dr. Govada has been an AIA member since 1992 and a member of the Hong Kong chapter since 2002. As Urban Design Committee Chair since 2007, she organized Urban Design Symposia and Community Charrettes to raise member and public awareness on critical urban issues. She is the Managing Director of Urban Design & Planning Consultants Limited and a Part Time Assistant Professor, Dept. Of Urban Planning and Design, The University of Hong Kong. She is an award winning, qualified urban designer and certified professional urban planner with over twenty four years of international experience in Hong Kong, PRC, India and USA.

Gregory Yager, AIA
Urban Design Co-chair, China
 

A talented architect, urban planner and designer, Mr. Yager brings to RTKL over twenty five years of experience in urban design and master planning of mixed-use, new community, urban and suburban development projects. Mr. Yager also offers extensive experience in the design and master planning of large-scale retail, office, medical, and conference developments. Mr. Yager joined RTKL in 1980, and was promoted to vice president in 1994. After serving as Director of RTKL’s urban design in the London office, Mr. Yager is now the Director of the urban design and master planning studio at RTKL Shanghai. He was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2007.
