Giverny Clubhouse
The Giverny Clubhouse is a very small but public building. The design objectives are to make the building feel bigger and to integrate the building into the natural setting. The design team resolves the challenges firstly by using layering and transparency to blur the definition of inside and outside and framed the surrounding greenery to visually expand the boundary. The careful detailing and choice of natural materials with more rustic finishes introduce a natural feeling to the building. Natural light is carefully introduced into the building to create a warmer setting and to give life to the natural materials through reflection and shadow. The bamboo garden in the bathroom and the feature wall of the gym are prime examples.
