Award: Merit Award for Urban Design and AIA Hong Kong Associate Award

After more than a century of the Central Harbourfront’s development through reclamation, this will be the first and last opportunity for Hong Kong to create a final waterfront edge to enable the city to merge with Victoria Harbour. To celebrate Hong Kong’s life as a legendary harbour city, we propose to recreate Central as a unique destination with distinct identity, bringing together a viable mix of live, work, play for people to truly experience and enjoy the harbourfront. A “place-based” approach is used for the sustainable development of the Central Harbourfront that is universal in its understanding, attractive to the local residents and visitors alike, yet entrenched in community aspirations, local meaning and the cultural context of the city.
