Lake Dragon Residential Development Sales Office, Guangzhou, China
Winner:
Ronald Lu & Partners Ltd.
Award: Honor Award for Interior Design

The Project is a development at a 1.2 million square meters land of high end low density residential (Lake Dragon) next to the Asian Game golf course in Guangzhou China. The house architecture design adopts modern center courtyard approach. The Client commissioned the same project architect to custom design a stand alone Sales Office Complex on both architecture and interiors for sales and showcase the project.

The complex is design with three pavilions embracing a reflective pool in the center. In contrast to many other sales offices that are done in a total enclosure, the Lake Dragon Sales Office is intentionally created with an open and airy glass architecture capturing natural light, landscape and the water surroundings. The almost transparent architecture turns itself into a glowing crystal over the reflection pool during evening. The interior design emphasizes a spatial layering experience in synergy of close and open spaces that connects various functions. It is further garnished by a modern French sophistication: black and white marble flooring, giant leave sculptures in champagne gold gilding, a solid gold color cylinder theatre, bright, airy and high ceiling main hall featured with a 6x8 meters three dimensional crystal chandelier in anchoring the model display of the residential development property, and Italian marble grand staircase leading to the up stair VIP lounges.

The integrated design approach of architecture, landscape and interiors set a new standard for marketing and sales of residential development in the Southern China. The development and its design have aroused a big attention in the property arena. Almost all the 110 units in the Phase 1 development were sold immediately with good above market prices upon the opening of the sales event. Regardless of the global economic down-turn during the first half of this year so many enquiries were received that the developer decided to immediately put in action of the second and third phases of development, with more phases in the queue.
