Please join us for our first FAIA Leadership Series – Hello Fellow with William Lim, FAIA.
The AIA Fellowship program was developed to acknowledge architects who have made significant contributions to architecture and society and achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Fellowship recognizes the achievements of the architect as an individual and honors the awardee on a national, or international, level. The AIA College of Fellows seeks to stimulate a sharing of interests among Fellows and encourages them to promote the purposes of the Institute, advance the profession of architecture, mentor young architects, and be of ever-increasing service to society.
William Lim was elected a Fellow in 2010. Having designed many highly acclaimed projects across the globe, his work often blurs the boundary between art and architecture. As an architect, art collector and artist, William’s influence can be seen in his interactions with clients, artists, art collectors, colleagues and others.
Recently elected a Cornell University Trustee and has been bestowed with an Honorary Doctorate in Arts and Sciences by SCAD, William will explain the journey that led to his becoming an architect and how he has been able to create such consistently exceptional work, eventually leading to his FAIA status. We will hear how, as part of the first wave of US trained, AIA member architects in Hong Kong in the 1990s,he has successfully run his practice in Hong Kong and regionally. We will also get a glimpse into his involvement on the Board of Alumni at Cornell University where he completed his architectural studies.
William will also share his experience in applying for Fellowship, the process of doing so, and the roles and responsibilities that achieving FAIA status entails.
