Good acoustics are important to our well-being, whether at home, at work, at a leisure center or in a public building. This seminar will introduce the audience to the use of natural wall and ceiling claddings that improve the acoustic quality of indoor spaces. Technical criteria such as sound absorption, reverberation time, and speech intelligibility will be explained, and case studies will be presented to illustrate solutions to acoustic problems in offices, shops, theaters, schools, and sports facilities. With a focus on sustainability, the lecture will also address the environmental considerations of different raw materials, production processes, environmental labels, and industry standards. Finally, aesthetic issues such as panel structures, textures, colors, and edge-profiles will also be presented.
