HKU: Spring 2019 Public Lecture Series

AIA Hong Kong invites you to join The HKU Spring Architecture Lecture Series 2019.

The first lecture will be From the Beginning … by Rocco Yim, BBS, JP, Hon AIA (HK), FHKIA, RIBA, and will be held on 15 February 2019 (Friday), at 6pm. The lecture will discuss how Hong Kong’s ‘regional-ness’ relates to her culture of materiality, or tectonics, and, in particular, traits such as resourcefulness, flexibility, practicality and inclusiveness – all of which are instrumental to the formulation of effective design strategies. These characteristics include stacking, mixing, linking, blurring and embracing, and ultimately result in architectural works that are not only special but also meaningful in our unique social and physical context. Only by connecting with relevant cultures of times past and present, so that it is both an expression of form and an interpretation of such cultures in their essence, can contemporary architecture embody an identity that is both regional and authentic for our city.

This event – and subsequent HKU lectures – are FREE.  HKU Campus Map
