AIA Hong Kong 2013 Inaugural Reception

AIA Hong Kong will kick off a new, exciting 2013 on the theme of “Architecture, Art and Culture” with an Inaugural Reception at Gagosian Gallery, one of the leading galleries in the world.

We will be welcomed by Nick Simunovic, Gallery Director, who will speak about the process of setting up this 5,000 sqft gallery in Hong Kong.  We will have the chance to a private viewing of the on going exhibition by Japanese Artist Takashi Murakami, followed with a talk by Aric Chen, Curator of Design & Architecture, M+, on the topic of “Architecture, Art, or Vice Versa”.

Hong Kong at 15 – Redefining the Public Realm

AIA Hong Kong is pleased to co-present with the Asia Society Hong Kong Center a joint event with AIA New York Chapter, Center for Architecture Foundation. In recognition of Hong Kong’s 15 th anniversary of independence, the Center for Architecture in New York opens “Hong  Kong  at  15: Expanding the Public Realm” on December 10, 2012. The exhibition features commissioned photography by Hong Kong photographer Ah Hung of three selected architectural projects built in Hong Kong since 1997: The International Finance Center by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Hysan Place by Kohn Pedersen Fox and the Asia Society by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects.

The exhibition and related program launch a larger initiate, “Global City / Global Practice,” the theme of 2013 AIA New York Chapter President Jill Lerner, FAIA.  Over the course of the year, the Chapter will host programs that explore urban development across the world. These programs and exhibitions will travel to Hong Kong in the future.
