CES #349 Third Quarterly Presentation: International Forum and Global Practice Presentation with Pei Cobb Freed & Partners

There was a large turnout at the Asia Society for a Brunch Reception with George Kunihiro, FAIA, and George Miller, FAIA, on Saturday the 14th of September.

Chapter members, guests and Asia Society attendees were treated to an update about the AIA International Region by George Kunihiro, our current AIA International Director, who described how and why the International Region came into existence and its importance in what is now a global world, with many firms operating, in effect, “24/7” because they are located not only in the United States, but also as far afield as India, China and the Middle East.

George Miller followed this discussion with a presentation of nearly three decades of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners’ international work, from the Bank of China, Hong Kong, in 1988, to present day projects, some of which are still on the boards or under construction. The firm’s work spans the globe from east to west and comprises an outstanding portfolio of signature architecture, designed with due respect for local environmental conditions and cultural norms.

The event, which drew to a close at 12:30 PM, was co-presented with Asia Society Hong Kong and kindly sponsored by AIA Hong Kong Corporate Affiliate Member BSC. AIA members attending this seminar earned 1.5 LU / HSW units toward their mandatory annual AIA Continuing Education requirements.
