AIA Hong Kong Building Tour – Tai Kwun

Due to popular demand, this event is sold-out.

Please join us for a building tour of Tai Kwun : Centre for Heritage and Arts

The Central Police Station (Tai Kwun) revitalisation project involved an integrated team of conservation specialists, researchers, architects and other professionals including: Herzog & de Meuron, Purcell and Rocco Design Architects.

The compound is comprised of three declared monuments: the former Central Police Station, the Central Magistracy and the Victoria Prison.

With a deep respect for authenticity in materials, techniques and design, 16 heritage buildings and several open spaces have been restored for adaptive reuse. Two new buildings have also been added, housing a world-class art gallery space and a 200-seat auditorium. Designed by the internationally renowned architectural practice Herzog & de Meuron, the new buildings’ facades draw inspiration from the granite walls surrounding this historic landmark.

What was once a closed-off part of Hong Kong will soon become an open and vibrant new venue for all to enjoy, with international standard facilities to foster the city’s art, leisure and cultural landscape.
