AIA Hong Kong – Nov President’s Message

Dear Members and Friends,

Greetings from AIA Hong Kong! Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

In November we had our Inaugural Annual Dinner, a brown bag lunch seminar, and the YAG Social Mixer, making it a month to remember. A big welcome to our new Silver Sponsor, BSC Colourliving, joining our Annual Gold Sponsor, Big Ass Fans.

Our Inaugural Annual Dinner was held at the Island Shangri-La, and was a huge success. It was great to see a big turn out with over 100 guests, including many experienced and emerging architects. The Hong Kong Chapter award winners were honored and we also showcased design excellence by celebrating the AIA International Region Award winners. Secretary for the Environment, the Hon. K.S. Wong, our Keynote Speaker, shared his insights into the government’s Energy Savings Plan and how we can all work together to make Hong Kong more sustainable. Thanks to our generous event sponsors AHEC, JEB and, NorthGlass our members, friends and our Young Architect Group members were able to attend at very reasonable prices. Thanks also to Nelson Chen, FAIA, William Lim, FAIA and Rex Wong, AIA who took up tables at the dinner.

Before the Annual Dinner we also had a brown bag lunch on dynamic tinted glass at the JEB showroom in Quarry Bay, and a YAG social mixer for emerging architects sponsored by Kum Shing which provided an opportunity for young members to come together at Lan Kwai Lau, a cool new place in LKF. This was a great way to meet new people and see the YAG grow.
