Dear Members and Friends,
Greetings from AIA Hong Kong!
Thanks to all of you it has been great experience working withExCo, Committee Chairs and members to raise the profile of AIA Hong Kong while also serving the members.
At the end of September we had our H&A Awards night, followed by our fourth Quarterly, the Story of Lan Kwai Fong, with Allan Zeman. Urban Transformation – the Story of Lan Kwai Fong with Allan Zeman
Our fourth quarterly on urban transformation and the Story of Lan Kwai Fong, including a short tour of California Tower, was great. It was fascinating to listen to Dr. Zeman explain how a street became a place, and then a brand that is now making its mark in China and the region.
AIA Hong Kong Annual Dinner and International Region Awards
Our Inaugural Annual Dinner will be held at the Island Shangri-la on November 12th, a time for all of us to come together to showcase design excellence, celebrate the AIA Hong Kong award winners and, this year, also honor the AIA International Region award recipients. Secretary for the Environment, Hon. K.S. Wong will be our Keynote Speaker.
Thanks to our sponsors’ generosity, we are able to offer discounted prices for all members, including those from our Young Architects Group. There will also be a prize raffle, as this is a great opportunity for our CAs to showcase their products.
Potential Trip to Delhi-Agra-Jaipur, India
As I mentioned previously, there is an urban development conference in Jaipur, India, from December 9-11 and we are trying to organize a trip to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, and perhaps, to Chandigarh and Ahmedabad, to see Le Corbusier’s and Louis Khan’s buildings. Ideally, this would occur towards the end of the year from December 6 to 15 or so. Planning is in progress so stay tuned for further details, but do let me know how many of you would be interested to join.

Your AIA Hong Kong Team
I thank ExCo members and Committee members who have worked hard all year, especially over the last few months, together with Catherine Wong and Vivian Chan from the Chapter Office, to make these events happen. We should be able to announce the 2016 ExCo at the Annual Dinner and we are also now looking for Committee Chairs and Members for next year, so, if you are interested, please contact me, Ken Hau (our 2016 President Elect), Rex Wong, Vikki Lew or the Chapter office for further details.
Hope to see you at the Inaugural Annual Dinner on November 12, 2015!
