Merit in Urban Design – Revitalize the 168 Golden Coastline – The Most Beautiful Scenic Road in Southern China by AECOM
The 168 km long coastal highway in Cangnan, Zhejiang, is on a mission to be more than just a transportation corridor.
The master plan is to revitalize villages along the fishery belt into an eco-tourism destination featured with offshore fishing, seaweed farming, aluminate mining, and anti-pirate history. A greenway along the 168 highway is also planned to provide a cycling path and strolling area for various activities.
Three categories of post stations are distributed based on different service provisions, and the designs are embodied with the previously mentioned culture and historic gestures. They will serve not only sports goers but also nature observers as balconies between magnificent mountains and seas.
