AIA Hong Kong Evening Cocktail: Cultural Light – The Instinctive and the Indigenous Charles G. Stone II, President of the award winning architectural lighting firm Fisher Marantz Stone March 11, 2015 | 6:30 – 8:30 PM At the offices of Ronald Lu & Partners, Wanchai
Join us for cocktails and a chat with esteemed lighting designer Charles Stone, as his travels take him again to Hong Kong from New York. Charles, with his firm FMS, is the lighting genius behind projects and installations like the World Trade Center in New York, the Jin Mao in Shanghai, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and in Hong Kong, HSBC and Hong Kong International Airport.
This talk will explore the similarities and differences in how various cultures perceive, feel, express, and realize light in the built environment. Some effects and preferences seem to be instinctive, while others are unique and indigenous. A sensitive understanding of these attributes will enrich our appreciation of the luminous environment and make us better ambassadors of light.
