Dear Students,

Greetings from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Hong Kong Chapter! We represent a group
of designers in Hong Kong who are trained and/or licensed in the US. We would like to invite you to
join us for an evening session with the following speakers over Zoom, where you will hear firsthand
stories about their path to becoming an architect. Details of the event as follow:

Short bio of the speakers:

Chang Su AIA

Chang is an architect, occasional writer, and curator, currently teaching architecture design at the
The University of Hong Kong. Chang received his Master in Architecture with commendation and Dean’s
Merit Scholarship from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Previously, Chang was
educated at Peking University, ETH Zürich, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies
with First Class Honor and a full scholarship from the University of Hong Kong. He is a licensed
architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects, currently co-chairing AIA Hong Kong
Chapter’s Programs Committee.

Chang has worked with Michael Maltzan in Los Angeles and Wang Weijen in Hong Kong as a project
architect for exhibitions, educational, cultural, and residential projects in North America and Asia. His
translation work for the Chinese edition of Iñaki Ábalos’s The Good Life: A Guided Visit to the Houses
of Modernity was published by Luminocity, Tongji University Press (2019). A second collaborative
translation project for Valerio Olgiati’s Non-Referential Architecture is currently under contract with
Chinese Architecture and Building Press.

Dennis Cheung HKIA, Assoc. AIA
Founder of the Hong Kong practice – RYTE, Dennis is a Hong Kong Registered Architect trained at
MIT and the University of Hong Kong. With a strong focus on digital fabrication and material
innovation, Dennis believes that good designs work across disciplines and scales and that he is
driven to solve problems for the greater good. Prior to RYTE, Dennis worked in renowned offices in
Japan, China and Italy. He has also taught at the University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Design
Institute.

Josely Lam
A designer currently practicing in DXA Studio in New York, Josely received her Bachelor of
Architecture from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, after which she worked for two years before
completing her Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. During her studies, she
traveled to London for a study abroad program in the Architectural Association, with a focus on
confronting the possibilities of future housing.
Professionally, she gained valuable experience interning at Eisenman Architects in New York where
she was part of the team for the now-published book, Lateness. She also interned at Shigeru Ban
Architects in Tokyo where she worked on a proposal for Muji Hut and another on the extension
development of Nine Bridges Country Club in Korea.

Moderator

Hinki Kwong AIA

Hinki Kwong is the Chair of AIA Hong Kong Young Architects Group (YAG) 2021 and currently
practices in JATO Design in Hong Kong. With over 15 years of project experience in the US, UK,
China and Hong Kong, he has worked on a broad range of projects including the Innovation Tower at
the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Guangzhou Opera House while he practiced in Zaha
