Dear Members,

AIA Hong Kong is delighted to bring to our members an exclusive visit to the State Theatre in North
Point.

Designed by George W. Grey, FRIBA, FRICS, and S.F. Lew, the State Theatre (1952) is a listed
Grade I historic building in Hong Kong. It was designed as a cinema and subsequently converted for
commercial use before its closure in 1997. Architecturally, the most remarkable features are the
reinforced concrete arch beam roof structure and its vertical hangars, which suspend a reinforced
concrete paneled roof over the auditorium.

In this tour, Mr. Jeff Tung FHKIA, Senior Project Director of New World Development will share with
us the stories and challenges of this conservation project.

Sincerely,

AIA Hong Kong
