GBA Tour of HKUST (GZ) and CUHK (SZ)
Dear Members and Friends
Join us for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes exploration of two groundbreaking university campuses that are redefining higher education in the Greater Bay Area. These institutions exemplify cutting-edge design, deep sustainability commitments and cross-disciplinary collaboration—setting new benchmarks for the campuses of tomorrow.
Tour Overview
The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (Guangzhou)
Our journey begins at HKUST (Guangzhou) – a carbon-neutral, zero-water-waste campus master planned by KPF and engineered by ARUP. Located in Nansha, this forward-thinking institution integrates smart electric vehicle mobility, climate-responsive design, and a dynamic central space that encourages cross-disciplinary innovation. Led by members of the project team, this guided tour will showcase how the campus has re-imagined education through a sustainable, tech-forward lens.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen)
Next, we visit CUHK (Shenzhen), master planned by Wang Weijen Architecture (WWJ ARCH) as a seamless integration of nature and built form. Designed around a lush green axis, this academic setting includes courtyards, lakeside structures, and multi-layered architectural highlights. Signature features such as the Teaching Courtyard Complex, Central Quad, and Tower Plaza merge indoor and outdoor learning spaces while offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and cityscapes.
